Abstract

FIRSATLAR DEMOGRAPHIC OPPORTUNITIES IN TURKEY ACCORDING TO 2040 AND 2060 POPULATION PROJECTIONS
Population is one of the main issues of the geography. Census in Turkey has been carried out since 1927. The constant increase in the population of Turkey since 1927 has changed in certain periods. Demographic transformation theory refers to the transition of all societies from high fertility and death rates to low both of them. Turkey has moved to the third stage of the demographic transformation theory in the 2000s. Turkey continues to grow older with low fertility and mortality rates. Characteristics of the population (age structure/group, gender status, educational status, household size, distribution of workers by economic sector, rural-urban population rates) in order to better analyze the population and determine the demographic transformation of Turkey are studied in this study. By comparing the population census results based on the address of 2017 with the population projections of 2040 and 2060, future demographic opportunities and the needs to be made in this context have been revealed.
