Abstract


THE VIEWS OF PRESCHOOL TEACHER CANDIDATES ABOUT THE FUNCTIONALITY OF ART CENTERS IN CLASSES
The aim of this study is to determine preschool teacher candidates’ who go to schools within the scope of school experience and teaching practice, views about the functionality of art centers in classes. Art is reveal of a person’s emotions, thought sand dreams by using imaginations, with abstract and concrete materials. The usage of visual aids plays an active role in gaining target behaviours to arouse attention of preschoolers. The art centers in classes have a great importance for preschool children. In this study, qualitative research design was used.An interview form, which was designed by the researcher was used for data collection. The datas obtained through study were analyzed by descriptive analysis method. The study group consisted of the third and fourth grade teacher candidates studied at Firat University, Faculty of Education, Department of Primary Education, Preschool Education. Convenience sampling method was used in the study. Volunteer preschool teacher candidate sparticipated to the study. Study results revealed that although art centers have some positive features, they have some problems at use and functionality.
