Abstract

According to the approach of economic sociology market system is not a seperate system from society, it should be accepted as a part of society. According to the economic sociology economies are embedded in social factors like class structure, culture, institutions, history, politics etc. Therefore, economic analyses should include those social factors. However, Neoclassical theory assumes that social relations and social factors impede the functioning of market economy and disrupt the optimal solutions of the market system. Since 1980s the Newtonian Neoclassical model influences Turkish economy heavily. Reforms like privatizations, budget cuts, opening of capital markets, reduction of government intervention are realized in Turkish economy. Turkish economy is a highly socially embedded economy. Besides, Turkish society is stil an organic society. However, in Turkish society there is a moral crisis, families, traditions, Anatolian values are continuosly being eroded. In this study, there will be explanations about how Neoclassical economic theory and universal ethics which are imported from Western world cause a moral crisis in Turkish society. Besides, at the end of the study there are some solutions to prevent this moral crisis.
