Abstract
Felsefe aracılığıyla epistemolojik, ontolojik, aksiyolojik ve etik sorunlarına cevap bulmak için zihinsel yolculuğunu sürdüren insan kendisine ihtiyaç duyduğu belli alanlar açabilmektedir. Hayatın birçok safhasında yeni alanlara ihtiyacı olması gerçeği bir yana özellikle eğitim; sosyal değişim, teknolojik yenilik ve hatta pandemi gibi anomalilerle her gün yeniden üzerinde düşünülmesi gerekli konulardan biridir. Eğitimin en çok dikkat edilmesi gereken bölümlerinden biri olan sosyal bilgiler ise doğası gereği birçok alanı içeriğinde barındıran oldukça karmaşık bir alandır. Alanda yetişen öğretmen adayları öğretecekleri konuları, öğretim şekillerini, amaçlarını, mesleki gelişimlerini vb. sorgulamalı ve kendilerine ait düşünsel bir altyapı inşa edebilmelidirler. Buna imkân sağlayan en önemli araç ise felsefedir. Bu bağlamda, bu araştırmanın amacı sosyal bilgiler öğretmen adaylarının felsefe ihtiyacının gerekçelendirilmesine yönelik görüşlerinin incelenmesidir. Bunun için, amaçlı örnekleme yöntemiyle seçilen 36 öğretmen adayıyla, kurgulanan nitel araştırma deseninde görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Yapılan görüşmeler için araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen yarı-yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Gerekli geçerlik ve güvenirlik önlemlerinin ardından veriler içerik analizi ile analiz edilmiştir. Analiz sonuçları tablolar halinde sunulmuş, yorumlanmış ve araştırma katılımcılarının görüşlerini içeren doğrudan alıntılar da ilgili tablonun altında verilmiştir. Öğretmen adaylarının felsefe ihtiyacını gerekçelendirmesine yönelik görüşleri belli kodlar ve alt temaları ihtiva eden düşünme becerileri ve mesleki gelişim ana temaları altında toplanmıştır. Bulgular ilgili alan yazın etrafında sunulduktan sonra özellikle sosyal bilgiler öğretmen eğitimine yönelik öneriler sunulmuştur.

Abstract
Continuing his intellectual journey to find answers to epistemological, ontological, axiological, and ethical problems through philosophy, people can open certain areas that they need. Apart from the fact that it needs new fields in many stages of life, especially education; with anomalies such as social change, technological innovation and even pandemics, it is one of the issues that need to be rethought every day. Social studies, which is one of the most important parts of education, is a very complex field that contains many fields by its nature. Pre-service teachers trained in the field will learn about the subjects they will teach, their teaching styles, their aims, their professional development, etc. They should be able to question and build an intellectual infrastructure of their own. The most important tool that enables this is philosophy. In this context, the aim of this research is to examine the views of social studies teacher candidates on justifying the need for philosophy. For this purpose, interviews were conducted with 36 pre-service teachers selected by purposive sampling method, in a qualitative research design. A semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher was used for the interviews. After the necessary validity and reliability measures, the data were analyzed with content analysis. The analysis results are presented in tables and interpreted, and direct quotations containing the opinions of the research participants are given below the relevant table. Pre-service teachers' views on justifying the need for philosophy were gathered under the main themes of thinking skills and professional development, which include certain codes and sub-themes. After the findings were presented around the related literature, suggestions were made especially for social studies teacher education.
