Abstract

Abstract

Human kind have lived mostly in caves and tree hollows in the prehistoric era. Especially the Paleolithic age has presented us the most significant examples of that. The oldest settlement from the Paleolithic age in Anatolia is the Dülük Höyük which is based in Keber hill of Dülük Village in Gaziantep, dated to 600.000 B.C. and is also one of the oldest habitats of the world. Living in this way until the Neolithic Age, human kind have adopted a sedentary life in Anatolia with the Neolithic Age which is dated in 8000-5000 B.C. In this era, first villages were built and agricultural activities were started. In the Chalcolithic Age, started after Neolithic Age and witnessed usage of a few mines, settlements have expanded a little bit more as they get enclosed with walls. City-states started to appear in and after the Bronze Age, and several large and small market hoods were built to boost business in these city-states. As it can be observed, cities and city-states appeared after these gradual processes and brought idiosyncratic changes in each period. From the management systems and infrastructures to social life of the cities, many diverse components in different topics and architectural structures appeared.
