Abstract
Motif Kültürü İçinde Hayat Ağacı Motifi" konulu bu çalışmada süsleme sanatlarında yoğun olarak kullanılan ve temel motiflerden biri olan hayat ağacı motifi üzerinde durulmuştur. Hayat ağacı kavramının uzun tarihi süreç içinde sembollere ve motiflere dönüşme aşamaları ve gelişimi araştırılarak ortaya konulmuştur. Süsleme sanatında hayat ağacının yeri ve önemi anlaşılmaya çalışılmıştır. Anadolu coğrafyasında hüküm sürmüş toplumlarda, devletlerde hayat ağacı inancının özellikleri, dinlerde, kültürlerde, Dünya sanatında hayat ağacına yüklenen anlamlar, destanlar, mitler, efsaneler vb. pek çok alanda rastlanan hayat ağacı kavramı araştırılmıştır. Türk süsleme sanatları içinde; İslamiyet öncesi dönem, İslamiyet sonrası dönem ve Cumhuriyet döneminde görülen hayat ağacı motifinin kullanım alanları, şekilleri, türleri, biçimleri de tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır.

Abstract
In this study titled "Tree of Life Motif in Motif Culture", the focus is on the tree of life motif, which is one of the basic motifs and used extensively in ornamental arts. It is investigated and revealed the transformation and development of the concept of the tree of life into symbols and motifs in the long historical process. It is attempted to understand the place and importance of the tree of life in ornament art. Features of the tree of life belief in the societies and states that ruled over in the geography of Anatolia, meanings assigned to the tree of life in religions, cultures, world art, epics, myths, legends and so on, have been investigated. It is also tried to determine areas of use, shapes, types and kinds of the tree of life motif seen in the pre-Islamic period, the post-Islamic period and the Republic period in the Turkish decorative arts.
