Abstract
Bu çalışmada Türk kültürel belleğinin en köklü ve çok katmanlı simgelerinden biri olan Hayat Ağacı motifinin, tarihsel süreçten günümüze uzanan temsil biçimleri üzerinden incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında Hayat Ağacı motifinin geleneksel Türk sanatlarında halı, kilim, çini, mimari gibi alanlarda kullanılan sembolik, estetik ve kavramsal özellikleri ile çağdaş sanat ve bilgisayar destekli tasarım pratiklerindeki güncel yorumları betimlemelerle açıklanmıştır. Çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemi benimsenmiş; literatür taraması, görsel çözümleme ve ikonografik değerlendirme yöntemleri kullanılarak motifin biçimsel yapısı, anlam katmanları ve kültürel süreklilik içindeki konumu analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma bulgularına göre Hayat Ağacı motifinin gökyüzü ve doğa arasında bağ kuran, hayatın içinde yaşam döngüsü, süreklilik, sonsuzluk, uzun ömür, düzen, aidiyet, bağ, güç, dayanıklılık, umutlar, varlık ve yokluk ve mekan kavramlarını temsil eden güçlü bir sembolik yapı olduğu belirlenmiştir. Geleneksel üretimlerde kök – gövde – dal düzeni aracılığıyla tanımlanan bu kavramsal yapının, günümüz ve dijital tasarım ortamlarında farklı estetik ve görsel ifade biçimlerinde kullanılabildiği görülmektedir. Sonuç olarak çalışma; Hayat Ağacı motifinin geçmişten günümüze uzanan tarihsel ve kültürel süreçte yaşayan, dönüşen ve yeniden anlam üretebilen bir kültürel değer olduğu; doğru yorumlandığında çağdaş sanat, tasarım ve eğitim alanlarında kültürel sürekliliği besleyen güçlü bir ifade alanı sunduğunu göstermektedir. Bu bağlamda Hayat Ağacı motifi, gelenek ile güncel üretim arasında kurulan düşünsel köprünün merkezinde yer alan önemli bir kültürel ve estetik temsil aracı olarak değerlendirilmektedir.

Abstract
This study aims to examine the Tree of Life motif one of the most deeply rooted and multi-layered symbols of Turkish cultural memory through its representational forms from the historical process to the present day. Within the scope of the research, the symbolic, aesthetic, and conceptual characteristics of the Tree of Life motif as used in traditional Turkish arts such as carpets, kilims, tiles, and architecture are explained through descriptive analysis, alongside its contemporary interpretations in modern art and computer-aided design practices. The study adopts a qualitative research methodology; through literature review, visual analysis, and iconographic evaluation, the motif’s formal structure, layers of meaning, and its position within cultural continuity are analyzed. According to the research findings, the Tree of Life motif constitutes a powerful symbolic structure that establishes a connection between the sky and nature, representing concepts such as the life cycle, continuity, infinity, longevity, order, belonging, connection, strength, resilience, hope, existence and non existence, and spatial perception within life itself. The conceptual structure defined through the root – trunk – branch order in traditional productions can be observed to be employed in contemporary and digital design environments through diverse aesthetic and visual modes of expression. In conclusion, the study demonstrates that the Tree of Life motif is a living cultural value that has transformed and continuously generated new meanings throughout historical and cultural processes. When interpreted consciously and thoughtfully, it offers a strong field of expression that nourishes cultural continuity within contemporary art, design, and educational contexts. In this respect, the Tree of Life motif is evaluated as a significant cultural and aesthetic representational tool positioned at the center of the intellectual bridge established between tradition and contemporary production.
