Abstract
Cari işlemler açığı Türkiye ekonomisini uzun yıllardır etkileyen ve 1980’li yıllardan bu yana kriz dönemleri dışında sürekli genişleme eğilimi gösteren bir seyir izlemektedir. Ekonomik büyüme ile cari açık arasındaki ilişki bu durumun en önemli nedenlerinden biridir. Türkiye’nin enerji ihtiyacının büyük bir bölümünü ithalat yoluyla temin etmesi, sanayi üretiminde ithal edilen girdilere duyulan ihtiyaç ve ihracatın ithalata bağımlılığı cari işlemler açığının genişlemesini arttırıcı etkide bulunmaktadır. Bu durum Türkiye’de cari işlemler açığıyla mücadelede yapısal önlemler alınması gerekliliğini zorunlu kılmakta önlemler alınmadıkça sorunun uzun yıllar devam edeceği gözlemlenmektedir.

Abstract
The current account deficit has follows a cruising which affects Turkey for many years and shows the continuous expansion trend since 1980s expect in times of crisis. The relation between economic growth and the current account deficit is the most important reason at this point. Providing the large part of the energy needs of Turkey through imports, the need for imported inputs in the production industry and the import dependence of exports contribute positive effects to the expansion of the current account deficit. This requires the requirement of taking the structural measures in dealing with the current account deficit and it is observed that the problem will continue for many years if the precautions are not taken.
