Abstract
Cemal Süreya’nın şiirlerinde kendine geniş bir alan bulan “coğrafya” yalnızca bir kenti ya da bir bölgeyi imleyen bir karşılığa sahip değildir. Bu terimin şairin şiirlerindeki karşılığı geniş bir zemini işaret eder. Öyle ki Anadolu'dan Afrika'ya uzanan bu coğrafî yelpazede aynı zamanda insanlık tarihinin izlerinin de peşine düşülür. Coğrafyanın insan yaşamına etkisi ya da onun kaderindeki belirleyiciliği, tarih ile olan sıkı bağı şairin mekândan hareketle vardığı geniş coğrafi paydada düşündükleri ve düşündürdükleridir. Anadolu, Rumeli, Akdeniz, Mezopotamya, Ortadoğu, Afrika bazen dekor, bazen imge bazen de özne olarak şiire taşınırken şair coğrafya ile kurduğu bu sanatsal ilgiyi aidiyetler ve duyarlılıklar bağlamında bir farkındalığa çevirmeye çalışır.

Abstract
Geography, which occupies a wide space in Cemal Süreya's poems, does not merely signify a city or a region. Instead, the term provides such a backdrop for the poet's poems that the traces of human history can be pursued in the geographical array stretching from Anatolia to Africa. The effect of geography on human life or its decisiveness in man's destiny, as well as its close connection with history, are what the poet thinks and makes people think in the broad geographical ground that he reaches with reference to space. While Anatolia, Rumelia, Mediterranean, Mesopotamia, Middle East and Africa are sometimes used as a decor, sometimes as an image, and sometimes as a subject, the poet tries to turn this artistic interest he has established with geography into awareness within the context of belongings and sensitivities.
