Abstract

Letters of meanings is a matter that continued to occupy the people of the language and their scholars, This is due to its importance, as understanding the meanings of the seconds and the meanings of the letters of meanings as well as their original meanings would reach what is intended in dealing with the Quranic texts in particular and other texts in general, Ibn Faris mentioned in the chapter on talking about letters, he said: "This is a gate that works in Arabic language gates". As for the jurists, they mention what we mentioned in an abbreviation". Where Ibn Fares divided the letters in his book into five chapters. Arab scholars favor the use of the word "Tool" on the letter and the first to call it the term is Khalil bin Ahmed al-Farahidi. We are not here in the matter of talking about the term tool, as much as we are interested in learning about the development of this type of studies and the increasing need to study it with the abundance of what these tools can do by understanding the text and deciphering it, There is no doubt that the letters of meanings were the subject of disagreement among scholars, starting with the name and passing through its significance and meanings, for every doctrine in the letters of meanings, It can be said that Quranic studies were behind many linguistic studies, especially our subject (letters of meanings). "Because this science - the meanings of letters - is one of the important sciences for the interpreter, and ignorance of the meanings of letters was expected in a mistake in understanding the verse".
