FINANCIAL LITERACY: A STUDY AMONG THE RELIGIOUS MEN


The religious men, who have ability of declamation and influence on most of the society, can contribute to informing and leading the public toward the country's main economic and financial policies. In this context, the aim of study is to determine the financial literacy levels of the religious men working in the province of Trabzon and to have information about their financial attitudes and behaviors. Accordingly the data collected from 339 religious men in Trabzon by the questionnaire method in 2016 were analyzed by descriptive statistics and the level of financial knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of religious men were revealed. In addition, Kruskal Wallis test was used to determine whether there are any significant differences among the responses of religious men. As a result, it is determined that the level of financial literacy of the religious men is inadequate and the responses contain similarities for many questions.
