Abstract

This research was carried out to determine the differentiation of relationship between the emotional intelligence and self-esteem levels of students studying at the Physical Education Teacher training and Coaching Education Departments of Adiyaman, Harran, Kilis 7 Aralık, Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam and Inönü universities in 2019-2020 academic year in terms of some variables. A total of 500 people voluntarily took part in our study. Emotional Intelligence Inventory in Sport and Copersmith Self-Esteem Scale were utilized to collect date in the research. IBM (SPSS) 25.0 version, Armonk: NY) statistical package program was used for the statistical analysis of the data. As the data was normally distributed, T-test and ANOVA tests were utilized. Post-hoc test was used in order to determine the difference between groups. Statistical significance level was accepted as p<0.05. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the variables of age, gender, sports branch, income status, education level of parents are common variables affecting self-esteem and emotional intelligence level. The study indicated that there is no significant relationship between emotional intelligence and self-esteem.
