Abstract

Whereas art has shaped the existence of the human being in social axis, it, continues to be an integral part of life as one of the pioneers of transition. The active usage of communication tools in today’s world effort to integrate art to daily life and and human being’s struggle on depicting himself/herself pushed human being to find its own art. As in many other concepts, the art and child figures in the art passed through a historical transition. Primary purpose of this research is limited with some of the post 1850 Turkish artists’ emotions, thoughts and perspectives from the environment they lived on that they wished to reflect with child figures. From past to present, most of the Turkish artists did not work on child figures. From this point on, we analyzed one by one the 21 works of 12 Turkish artists; figures, colors and symbolsused in those works. Within this context, cultural effects of the places lived and public perspectives reflected on the artworks of those artists are examined Moreover, analysis and interpretation of the child figures in these paintings along with effects of these child themed artworks on Turkish society are made. The method of this research, which has the qualitative research characteristic, was determined as the “literature search” method.
