In Turkey, migratory waves moving from rural areas to urban areas have revealed about problems of overpopulation and random construction. In the following periods, this situation, which caused as squatter settlements first, then has transformed into unplanned urbanization. Urban regeneration applications that caused in time due to physical, social, economic and environmental conditions of urban places represent essentially the whole of that process. As a result of regeneration works in urban places which physical, social and economic dynamics have examined, slums regions have been identified. One of the best applications of this process is also Kanarya neighborhood in Istanbul, Kucukcekmece. Due to the unplanned urbanization and the high crime rate, excluded groups and low income level, the Kanarya neighborhood involves the dynamics of urban regeneration. The aim of present study is to examine both urbanization and urban regeneration applications in Kanarya neighborhood.
